Senior Kassandra Furlong helps out the Cave Creek community by volunteering at Horses Help. Horses Help is an organization that allows those with special needs to partake in horseback riding not only has a hobby, but also as therapy.

Volunteers at Horses Help have various job titles such being a Barn Buddy, Horse Leader, Committee Member and a Side Walker or Coach. Furlong is starting off as a Barn Buddy, but aspires to have more responsibilities.

“My job is to take care of the horses. I groom them and make sure all is well. Once someone starts their therapy, I help them with it,” Furlong said.

Furlong really enjoys volunteering at Horses Help, so much in fact that she would like to take the experience she gains to make a career out of it someday.

“I definitely want to work with kids that have disabilities, but if I do not I would like to continue volunteering,” Furlong said.
