Preparing for college? Here are some tips!

From early decision deadlines to the scholarship you never quite finished, we all struggle with the steps necessary to get to the golden gates of college. We asked our resident expert, career specialist Cindy Fair, to bring some light to this subject.

“Whether it is for the military, apprenticeship, community college, and/or 4-year college/university, preparing includes thinking about occupations that interest a student as well as the steps to take for training for the occupations,” Fair said in an email interview.

Applications for 4-year universities may become available as early as August 1 of the student’s junior year.

“Always check with the colleges regarding their timelines since many have early decision’ and other special dates,” Fair said.

From online website to public seminars, resources are readily available for all students.

“In the old days, you looked through books and file cabinets for information but now, there are websites that will search for your criteria such as CollegeBoard.org, and a plethora of others,” Fair said.
