New iPhone 5 sales go sky high

The new iPhone was available to purchase in stores on Sep. 21.  Many people are speculating about the iPhone 5, and a lot of people already have their own iPhones.

Freshman Cooper Korey owns an iPhone 4S.   

“I don’t plan on buying the iPhone 5 because there really isn’t a difference worth the money,” Korey said.

 However, there are several differences between the 4S and the 5.  On the 5 there, is a larger screen, the headphone jack has been moved to the bottom of the phone, there are larger speakers and the charging jack cable size is smaller.  The iPhone 5 is only 3.95 ounces in weight, making it the lightest iPhone yet. 

“I don’t think it was worth releasing a phone with hardly any differences between the new one [iPhone 5] and the previous one [iPhone 4S],” Korey said.  “Technology has taken over our lives.”

Freshman Megan Zimbelman also owns the iPhone 4S.  She has no interest in the iPhone 5, due to the minor changes. 

“I don’t plan on purchasing the iPhone 5 because it quit partnering with Google and it is basically the same phone as the one I have right now besides a few minor things” Zimbelman said. 

Before, the iPhones had Google Maps as an app.  Since then, Apple decided against it and it is no longer an app.  

“I don’t have an interest in getting the iPhone 5 if it is hardly a different phone at all.  Plus, I like Google and want to have it on my phone!” Zimbelman said. 

The iPhone 5 is made from aluminum and glass.  The new phone is 20 percent lighter than the 4S.  Many buyers say that it basically just a taller version of the iPhone 4S.  Will you buy it?
